Christmas parade kicks off the holiday season in Clinton

CLINTON, N.Y. (WKTV) - Local residents gathered in Clinton for the Annual Village Parade, Friday night.

The parade marks the official beginning of the holiday season for many in the Mohawk Valley, and hundreds braved the cold weather to participate in the food, fun, and of course, to see Santa Claus.

It's a great thing the Village puts on and it brings people together," said Nelson Blau of Deansboro. "everyone shows up here and says hello to everybody."

The event marks a tradition to many people, and even the weather couldn't bring their spirits down.

"It's a tradition for us to come down here," said Susan Lincoln of Marcy. "It starts off the Christmas season, so even though its cold, we'll grin and bear it."

For kids, the parade is a perfect way to see Santa and put in their requests for what they want for upcoming holidays. For parents, it is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit, and make memories with their families that will last forever.
