(WKTV) - The City of Oneonta has announced a snow emergency, officials said.
As of noon Thursday, a travel advisory is in effect, meaning no unnecessary travel in the City of Oneonta.
City crews have been working throughout the day in preparation for the winter storm, and will continue plowing until the end of the snow event. No parking is allowed on city streets after 2 1/2 inches of snow has fallen. During the early evening hours Thursday, cars parked on city streets will be ticketed and towed. City parking lots will be available, and regulations have been suspended through 8 a.m. Saturday. Residents will be allowed to park in available parking garage spaces on the first and second floor until noon Sunday.
Oneonta Public Transit buses are operating on the regular schedule. Call 432-7100 for information dependent upon college schedules.
Residents are asked to help clear fire hydrants of snow.
