City parterning with Genesis Group to bring wow factor to July 4 parade

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - The City of Utica is looking to turn the annual Fourth of July parade into a "wow" event, as well as an Independence Day destination for people across Central New York.

And they're partnering with a local group to make it happen. Mayor Robert Palmieri, flanked by members of the Genesis Group and people from surrounding communities, made the announcement Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Palmieri wants people from around the region to come to Utica for July 4 -- and he said the city will give them plenty of reason to show up.
"There's gonna be music. There's gonna be bands. There's gonna be great foods. There's gonna be venues all over," said Palmieri. "We're going to be making announcements. There could be some marquee entertainment."

The Proctor Park festivities start at 6 p.m. July 4 and will last until the fireworks at dark.
