Civil War Reenactment takes place in Sylvan Beach

SYLVAN BEACH, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Civil War reenactment took place on the Village Green in Sylvan Beach on Saturday and was quite a site for tourists.

Members of the 157th New York Volunteer Infantry Reenactment Regiment set up shop much to the delight of passers-by.

One member of the reenactment unit says his grandfather was the first general to get shot and killed at the Battle of Gettysburg during the Civil War

Ohio-resident Everett Reynolds says he wouldn't miss this weekend for the world and the opportunity to teach. He said, "When I get a bunch of school kids or people coming over and asking me about the cannons, why we do this and stuff like that, that's what thrills me about the day."

The 157th takes its reenactment program on the road to all parts of New York State.
