(WKTV) - A Clinton man faces charges after he was allegedly inappropriately touching himself in a library at Hamilton College, Kirkland police said.

Matthew Carlson, 34, of Clinton, is charged with public lewdness.

According to authorities, around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Carlson was using a campus-owned computer at the Burke Library on the Hamilton College campus. A witness observed Carlson acting strangely and alerted Hamilton College Campus Safety.

When campus safety arrived, Carlson allegedly had his pants undone and his zipper all the way down. The Kirkland Police Department was notified. According to officials, Carlson admitted he had been viewing pornographic websites and touching himself inappropriately while at the library.

Carlson will appear in Town of Kirkland Court in May.
