(WKTV) - A Clinton man has been charged with driving while intoxicated after an early-morning accident in the Town of Kirkland, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office said.
Kapil R. Thakkar, 27, of Clinton was issued several tickets, including moving from lane unsafely, unreasonable speed for special hazards and driving while intoxicated.
According to officials, at almost 3 a.m. Tuesday, Thakkar was driving southeast on Brimfield Street. When rounding a curve, he drifted off the shoulder and struck several trees and a utility pole. The car continued and hit a fence before rolling on its driver side in a pasture. Thakkar was removed from the car by the Clinton Fire Department.
Thakkar was transported to St. Elizabeth's Medical Center after complaining of leg pain. Deputies were assisted by the Clinton Fire Department and Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corp.
