UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV)
- The landlord of the Columbia Street building that caught fire on January 23 says he's in the process of hiring a contractor to tear it down.
Michael Morrissey pleaded not guilty to charges of codes violations and he told the judge he hopes to have a demolition date by his next court appearance on March 11.
50-year-old Jeffrey Howarth died as a result of the fire and had first and second degree burns.
Just before the fire started, police were called to the West Utica apartment building for a burglary complaint against the victim.
