Columbus Elementary Students perform music at Utica City Hall

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Fourth, fifth and sixth graders from Columbus Elementary School learned what it takes to put on a show on Tuesday, as they got out of the classroom to show Utica City Hall what they've learned in music class.

Teacher Mary Ann Debernadris said it's more than just the carols, as the children now have a better understanding of how to present themselves in public.

"We've been working since late September, actually, and the children learn an entire program, spoken dialogue and everything else," Debernadris said. "We've been going all over the city performing. This is a wonderful example of kids and music. It's magical."

Believe it or not, many of the kids didn't even know what a choir was before this school year.
