Comets hold tryouts for Inaugural Comettes dancers

By GARY LIBERATORE

UTICA, NY (WKTV) - About 40 young women filled the lobby of The Hotel Utica on Saturday, all learning some dance moves to try and impress a panel of judges who will ultimately entertain the crowds at the Utica Memorial Auditorium during the Utica Comets inaugural season.

Ten out of the 40 will be selected to greet fans before and after each home game as well as entertain the crowd during timeouts and after the 1st and 2nd periods.

Victoria Sinisgalli of New Hartford was among those trying out on Saturday. She says she's been a dancer all her life and would love the opportunity to be a part of the excitement coming up.

Jennifer Venezio who owns Body By Design Group Fitness in New Hartford helped organize the tryouts and says all of these women are good dancers and good people, "I wish we could take them all, but we can only take ten and two alternates."

Venezio says she wasn't sure how long the selection process would take or even if they would have made the choices by Saturday evening.
