Community Foundation grant will help Children's Museum build second bathroom

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Construction will begin very soon on a new bathroom at the Children's Museum in Utica.

Currently the museum has only one bathroom, which is located on the first floor. That limitation has posed a problem for children who are playing on the fourth floor and need to use the restroom.

The project is being funded by a $25,000 grant from the Community Foundation.

Museum Executive Director Marlene Brown says the museum has come a long way over the past decade.

"When we started running it, the first floor was open and a couple things on the second floor and a couple things on the third, but as you can see, we have every floor open and a fourth floor," Brown said. "We still have a fifth floor, but I promised my husband we will not go near the fifth floor planetarium until we got the other necessary things done."

The next project on the list is a theatre on the fourth floor. The room is ready, now the equipment and seating needs to be installed.
