Community says goodbye to Matthew Pitcher

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - A father of two young children who was well-known in the arts community in the city of Rome lost his battle Wednesday night with brain cancer.

Matthew Pitcher was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer in in the fall of 2012.

He was an active member of Rome's theatre and dance community.

Pitcher remained lighthearted, naming his tumor, "Larry," until his death late Wednesday night according to friends of the family.

They say he'll be missed by many in the community, especially his students at John Hayes O'Neill School of Dance.
