Congressman-elect Hanna's committee assignments to focus on economic growth and job creation

UTICA, N.Y. – Congressman-elect Richard Hanna has announced his assignments to two important committees in the 112th Congress.

Hanna will serve on the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the Committee on Education and Labor – both key committees that will enable him to focus on creating economic opportunities in Upstate New York.

Hanna will also join the Congressional Dairy Farmers Caucus to address the needs of upstate dairy farmers.
About the committees:

Transportation and Infrastructure has broad jurisdiction over the country’s highways, aviation system, and rail transportation. Its top priority in the upcoming Congress will be to address significant infrastructure needs that are vital to job growth.

Education and Labor oversees education at all levels – from preschool to higher education. It also has jurisdiction over all workforce initiatives including health care, job training and retirement security for American workers.

“The single most important and determinant factor for our success as a nation and as individuals has been education,” Hanna said. “We must aggressively prepare our children to compete in the new global economy and to help restore America’s competitiveness. That will be my focus while serving on this committee.”

There are 20 colleges and universities within the 24th Congressional District and several just outside the district that serve our communities and Upstate New York.
