FORESTPORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - Contracts have been awarded for the Twin Bridge Construction in the Town of Forestport.

The Boonville Herald reports that at a special session of the Forestport Town Board of April 1, construction bids on the twin bridge construction on River Street was awarded to Bell Construction of Poland. The contract had originally been signed for $606,324 by Forestport Town Supervisor Bill Hasenauer, but then changed through authorization of the Board to $558,324, the Herald reports.

According to the newspaper, the change allows a different New York State Department of Transportation-approved bridge rail than the one listed in the advertised specifications.

Steven Zarnoch of New York Mills will act as "Clerk of the Works" on the town's behalf during the construction phase and Zangrilli Engineering of Whitesboro has been hired to draw the plans, the Herald reports.

Construction is anticipated to begin as soon as weather permits and must be completed by October 31, 2013.
