Cool down with a treat -- it's National Ice Cream Month

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - Summer has arrived and July has started off with hot temperatures.

One way to cool off is with an ice cream cone, and, as luck would have it, Tuesday kicks off National Ice Cream Month.

Back in 1984, President Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month, and whether you enjoy soft-serve or hard-packed ice cream, there's a flavor and brand for everyone -- and this is a perfect month to enjoy it.

"It's a celebration of all dairy products in the month of July," said Mike Mancuso, owner of Tasty Treat. "And without our dairy farmers, we would not have our products and the abundance that we do."

Mancuso says July is one of the busiest months of the year. Many ice cream shops have specials to celebrate the occasion. National Ice Cream Day is July 20.
