Cops beat Celebrities in first-ever "Cops vs. Celebrities" Basketball Tournament

WESTMORELAND, N.Y. (WKTV) - Local police officers and celebrities faced off Friday night at Westmoreland High School for the first-ever "Cops vs. Celebrities" Basketball Tournament.

The tournament benefited the Montgomery Experience, an organization that is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and families suffering from cancer.

Events like Friday's game are what the organization uses to bring smiles to the faces of those suffering.

Founder and CEO Mark Montgomery said, "The sad thing of what we do is many people have been touched and influenced by cancer and they don't have much of an avenue outside of some standard things to come out and do something different and to celebrate their family versus to be sad about their loss or their suffrage." .

NEWSChannel 2 Meteorologist Bill Kardas was one of the players on the celebrity team. He sunk a three-pointer and was a starting player.

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, the coach of the Cops team, Kardas' shot was the best of the night.

The Cops team won narrowly, 54-53.
