UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Plumes of large black smoke could be seen billowing throughout the skies over much of the City of Utica Tuesday afternoon, as crews battled a structure fire in the city's Harbor Point area.

The fire, which broke out shortly before 4 p.m. on Tuesday began as a small structure fire, filled with timbers and what appeared to be railroad ties and telephone poles. The materials were piled up on a cement foundation about 60-100 yards away from the Niagara Mohawk facility at Harbor Point.

Some of the fire extended to the grass around it, causing early report to state it was a brush fire.

The fire was reportedly under control shortly within a half hour.

There were not reports of any injuries.
