DOLGEVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - Law enforcement and Hazmat crews are on the scene of the Dolgeville Post Office after an incident Tuesday afternoon. According to Herkimer County Emergency Services, a female employee of the Dolgeville Central School District went to the post office on South Main Street and picked up the mail for the school and had a burning sensation on her hands. After seeing the school nurse about the matter, authorities were contacted and an inspection was begun at the post office. Authorities say it is unclear what she got on her hands and they are investigating, primarily as a precautionary measure as they determine what's going on.The Utica Fire Department's Hazmat unit was called in to assist Dolgeville Police at the scene and an area of South Main Street was closed off while the investigation continues. Postal Service employees remained in the building working as the inspection occurred.
