Crews investigate blaze in building at used car lot along Route 28

FLY CREEK, N.Y. (WKTV) - Fire investigators continue to investigate to find out what caused a blaze at a used car dealership in the hamlet of Fly Creek early Tuesday morning.

The blaze was reported at Daniel's Brothers Auto Sales along Route 28 at 12:21 a.m.

Crews from Fly Creek Fire Department were assisted by Cooperstown, Hartwick Seminary. Hartwick, Schuyler Lake, and Richfield.

They had the fire knocked down by 1 a.m. but crews remained on the scene throughout the morning putting out hot spots and ensuring the fire did not rekindle.

No vehicles were burned, but the building sustained heavy damage.

The fire started inside the building.

The fire chief says the building is not a total loss, but there is extensive damage.

The investigation has been turned over to the Otsego County Fire Coordinator.

No word on when the building will be able to reopen.
