Family left homeless after morning fire in Little Falls

LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - The investigation continues into a Thursday morning fire in the City of Little Falls, across the street of an intentionally-set, multi-structure fire back in March.

Fire crews from Little Falls and East Herkimer arrived on the scene of Ward Street around 9:43 a.m. Thursday morning, and say they had the fire under control by 10:50 a.m. and had left the scene shortly after Noon.

The structure fire was across the street from a site where an intentionally-set fire destroyed three structures in March 2010. Joseph M. Warn, 19, of Little Falls was arrested and charged back in April with five felony charges for his involvement in that March 24 fire on Ward Street.

Investigators are still looking into a cause for the fire, which was still unknown Thursday evening.

A man who friends say was named Henry Weckesser lived in the home with some grandchildren in his care, and has been displaced from the home, which was completely destroyed as a result of the fire.

Fire officials said two other houses were exposed to flames and heat during the course of the fire, causing the siding of both structures to melt off, and causing the eves of one of the houses to catch fire.

There is no word as of this writing as to what sparked the blaze or if anyone has been injured.
