Cuomo urges recall of toy sold at Dollar Tree

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - Gov. Andrew Cuomo took aim at a toy sold at Dollar Tree stores, saying Clingy Darts pose a danger to children.

The New York Department of State's Division of Consumer Protection found the toy contains more than six times the federally allowable limit of the chemical known as DEHP.

Cuomo asks the federal government to recall the toy, which is sold at stores throughout New York State, including Dollar Tree.

Phthalates are chemical substances often used in production of many types of plastics, certain inks, paints and other products. The National Toxicology Program says DEHP is a reproductive and developmental toxin in animals.

The governor's office urges those who have Clingy Darts to throw them in the garbage, or set them aside in a safe area and await any future recall instructions.
