Cuomo announces increase in child care subsidies

(WKTV) - To address a need for affordable health care, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday more than $794 million in child care subsidy funding.

The allocation is a $55 million increase over last fiscal year.

Low-income child care assistance is based on family size, the family's gross annual income and the reason the care is needed.

The Child Care Block Grant is the primary funding source used to pay for the subsidies.

* Oneida County will receive $6.6 million in funding.

* Herkimer County will receive $942,000 in funding.

* Otsego County will receive $951,000.

* Madison County will receive $842,000.

* Lewis County will receive $309, 000.

* Delaware County will receive $1.2 million.

* Fulton County will receive $545,000.

* Chenango County will receive $606,000.
