Cybersecurity company breaks ground on multi-million dollar expansion

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - According to business magazine "Inc.,"'s one of the fastest growing companies in the United States. Because of that growth, Assured Information Security is expanding.

A groundbreaking was held Monday at the Griffiss Business and Technology Park in Rome for its new corporate headquarters.

the company mainly works with government agencies in the field of cyber-security. The 46,305 square foot building will include 36,000 square feet of space leased to AIS Inc. And just over 10,000 square feet of additional office space for expansion.

The company's President and CEO, Charles Green, says it was important for them to stay local including keeping up an established partnership, "As we've grown and expanded, our strongest relationship has always been with the Air Force Reserves," he said. "We believe very strongly in their vision and we like working with them very much so it seemed like the most logical thing for us to do was stay here.

The construction is estimated to cost $10.585 million which includes the demolition of the former EDGE and GLDC offices at 153 Brooks Road. Griffiss Local Development Corporation is providing a loan of approximately $6.62 million to the developer, Cardinal Griffiss Reality, LLC. Other financing includes 1.585 million from Oneida Savings Bank and financing through the sale of New Market Tax Credits.

USBancorp Community Development Corporation is lending $2.386 in funding based on its number of New Market Tax Credits approved for the project. Empire State Development also assisted with the project, offering a $1 million grant to GLDC to support the project.

AIS expects to add 39 employees over the next three years.
