D.A.: fatal motel shooting in Old Forge likely to head to grand jury
OLD FORGE, N.Y. (WKTV) - The case of a Rochester-area police officer who authorities said fatally shot his son in an Old Forge motel is likely to go to a grand jury, authorities say. Former Rochester Police Captain Michael Leach told police he thought his 37 year old son, Matthew, was an intruder in the room that the two were sharing at Clark's Beach Motel in Old Forge on July 21. Herkimer County District Attorney Jeff Carpenter says that at this point, it appears the case will likely go to a grand jury for possible criminal indictment. He says New York State Police, both in Herkimer County and Rochester, are still investigating.
