DA's office releases statement on baby Levon investigation

By WKTV News

After receiving numerous phone calls regarding the investigation into the disappearance of 9-month-old baby Levon Wameling, the following is a statement from Oneida County District Attorney Scott D. McNamara:

"Over the past few days we have been asked numerous questions about recent developments in the disappearance and apparent death investigation regarding 9-month-old baby Levon Wameling.

"The District Attorney's Office will not be offering public comment upon specific information, status of evidence or any other facts or circumstances as we continue to review and evaluate the Wameling case.  Because of the strong possibility of a future prosecution arising out of the investigation, any such commentary at this juncture would be premature, contrary to ethical standards and may have the potential to jeopardize the integrity of any such prosecution.

"In seeking justice for baby Levon, we shall continue to thoroughly review the entire matter to its conclusion, at which time we shall make such commentary as the law allows."
