DEC begins investigation at Ilion Heights

ILION, N.Y. - The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has begun an investigation into soil and groundwater at an Ilion Housing Authority Site.

The housing complex known as Ilion Heights, was once the site of Prine Cleaners from the 1930s until the late 60s.

Due to the chemicals used when it was Prine Cleaners, the D-E-C is looking to see if any contamination from the laundry company has impacted the soil and groundwater.

The work is expected to take about two weeks, with results available 30 days after that.
