DVD signing held for award winning Oneida Nation film

By WKTV News

VERONA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A film that has received national and international acclaim is also getting the thumbs up from local residents.

The Oneida Nation's first animated film, "Raccoon and Crawfish," is 11 minutes long and teaches kids about the consequences of lying.

On Friday, the two lead characters, along with the producer and executive producer, signed autographs at the SavOn in Verona.

Dale Rood, a representative of the Turtle Clan, calls the film a preservation piece.

"The legends that have been handed down through my parents and grandparents and so on and so on....are stories we remember growing up," Rood said. "This was the perfect way to preserve that. Not just the story, but the culture of the Oneida Nation."

Raccoon and Crawfish is less than $5. The DVD and a glossy book can be found at all SavOn stores.
