David Testa announces run for Utica Common Council Second Ward

UTICA, N.Y. - David Testa announces he is currently running for Councilman of the Second Ward in West Utica. A life-long West Utican he has been a Democrat Committeeman for thirty years.

He has worked in the Utica City School District as a light equipment operator for twenty-three years and worked for ten years at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Inventory Control. He also worked ten years in the Youth Bureau in the City of Utica.

David served as a member of the Compassion Coalition and on committees for a tax freeze program. David has two sons who are graduates of Finger Lakes Community College, University of Phoenix, and Mohawk Valley Community College.

He supports economic development for West Utica at the Bossert site including the possibility of a grocery store and shopping area. He stands for Codes and law enforcement in the blighted neighborhoods of West Utica to protect families and properties.

David's platform includes rebuilding infrastructure, which is deteriorating. David's focus focus is on demolition of abandoned houses, maintaining empty lots and high grass areas, monitoring high crime areas and repairing potholes and Utica streets. He served on a Neighborhood Watch committee and is a strong proponent of keeping taxes low and eliminating waste in government. Though running in the Democratic Primary for the Second Ward, he is looking to run on other lines as well.

He has pledged, if elected, to represent West Utica and fight not only to improve the infrastructure of the West side, but the quality of life for the citizens as well. David promises to be an advocate for the people of West Utica. The name is familiar to many West Uticans and his brother Joe Testa, was a well-known leader of the Democrat Party.

Testa will primary Larry Tanoury in the Fall. Tanoury, who previously held the seat, is currently endorsed by the City's Democratic Committee.
