Distribution of coats, gloves honors MLK

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - The Utica Municipal Housing Authority and Americorps had a day of service and celebration on Monday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.

The Americorps representatives noticed may of the families that are part of the Municipal Housing Authority didn't have coats and decided a service day would be a perfect opportunity to share some warmth.

The day started with a pancake breakfast at 9 a.m. and then a distribution of coats, hats, gloves and boots. Organizers say it was a huge success.

Americorps says it's grateful for the donations from local businesses, churches and community members.
