Local therapist accused of allegedly shooting teen with a pellet gun

(WKTV) - A Dolgeville man was indicted Nov. 21 for allegedly shooting a 14-year-old with a pellet gun in June.

Ward V. Halverson, 43, of Dolgeville, is charged with assault in the second degree, reckless endangerment of the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child.

According to the Dolgeville Police Department, Halverson turned himself in on Nov. 26 after he was indicted by the Herkimer County Grand Jury on Nov. 21. The indictment was part of a five-month investigation into an incident that occurred on June 9 where a 14-year-old girl was allegedly injured with a pellet gun.

Officials say the teen who was injured was part of a group who walked onto Halverson's property.

Halverson is a child, family and veteran therapist in Herkimer.
