Driver flees after slamming into school bus in Utica

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Eight students from the Utica City School District are all right after a car slammed into their school bus on Friday afternoon.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Steuben and Leah Street in Utica around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, leaving the students, who were on their way home from BOCES, were left unhurt, as were the driver and the bus monitor.

Police say the driver of the car took off on foot after crashing into the bus.

School officials say the bus was almost through the intersection when the car crashed into it. The bus is damaged and not driveable and another bus picked up the kids and brought them home.

Police are still searching for the driver.
