Driver ticketed after four-car collision on Commercial Drive

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - A driver was ticketed after a four-car domino-reaction accident on Commercial Drive on Friday evening, according to New Hartford Police.

Police say 21-year-old Kailee Coffin, of Poland, was driving east on Commercial Drive when she struck the rear of another vehicle stopped at a red traffic light at the Route 840 bridge. That car was driven by 16-year-old Mason Whip of Clinton.

Law enforcement officials say the collision caused Whip's vehicle to strike a third vehicle stopped in traffic, operated by 30-year-old Michelle Gollegly, of Ilion, whose vehicle then struck a fourth vehicle operated by 63-year-old Lena Smith, of Marcy.

A passenger in Whip's vehicle, 39-year-old April Whip, complained of minor neck and head pain but declined medical treatment at the scene. No other injuries were reported, New Hartford Police said.

Coffin was issued a ticket for following too closely.
