E-1 tornado caused damage in Rome last month

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - The National Weather Service confirms an E-1 tornado touched down in Rome's Outer District last month. The damage from the July 23rd tornado could be seen on Lamphear Road where a newly constructed house was torn right off it's foundation.

Officials say the tornado had sustained winds of between 100 and 110 miles an hour. The owners of the damaged home were supposed to move in this month. Hail and winds caused extensive damage in the Rome, Floyd, Westmoreland and Whitesboro areas.

The exact path of the tornado is not known but some people who live in the homes nearby on Lamphear Road did not report any damage.
