Economic leaders exchange ideas at Genesis Group luncheon

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - The Genesis Group brought economic leaders together Wednesday to ensure everyone is on the same page in terms of local development.

The economic update forum was at Hart's Hill Inn, where representatives from every level of government were on hand, as well as business leaders. Ideas and projects were shared, as well as making the public aware on what to expect in the coming year.

While the news of Remington Arms out-of-state expansion comes with some local uncertainty, the head of the Genesis Group says local lawmakers handled the situation well.

"I think the key thing is communication and everyone working together," said Ray Durso of the Genesis Group. "I was happy to see Herkimer County reps, along with state reps, had a conference call with the governor. They didn't waste time."

Durso went on to say that 2014 is going to be a big year with the development of Nano Utica. The Genesis Group partnered with the chamber alliance to put on Wednesday's event.
