NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - An Edmeston has turned herself in for the theft of a wallet after she saw a surveillance photo of her broadcast on the local news.

According to New Hartford Police, Theresa V. Scrivner, 50, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny on Thursday, following a wallet theft that occurred at Wal-Mart in the Town of New Hartford back on October 30, 2011.

According to New Hartford Police, around 2 p.m. on October 30, Scrivner was making a purchase at the Wal-Mart and located a wallet belonging to another patron at the cash register. Video surveillance from Wal-Mart showed Scrivner picking up the wallet and putting it in her own purse, police said. They add that Scrivner left the Wal-Mart Store without turning the wallet in to either customer service or the police.

Police said Scrivner turned herself in to police following her picture being broadcasted on the local television news. She was released on an appearance ticket and is due back in Town of New Hartford Court on February 23, 2012 at 1 p.m. to answer her charges.
