Elementary students help make pies for church's Thanksgiving feast

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Students at Bradley Elementary School in New Hartford spent the last few hours of their school day on Monday making pies for the big Thanksgiving feast at First Presbyterian Church in Utica.

One hundred pies were either made by students or donated by parents. The person in charge of dessert at the church told the teacher in charge that she worried about this year's menu and the school didn't hesitate to step up.

"This month our theme is citizenship in our school and we try to encourage our kids to talk about citizenship and this helps them to understand what a good citizen is," said Second Grade Teacher Jennifer Conover.

On Wednesday, the pies will be hand delivered by the students to First Presbyterian Church on Genesee Street.

The church has two dinner sessions on Thanksgiving, one at Noon and another at 1 p.m.
