UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - As the Harbor Point and Nanotech projects get underway, a Syracuse-based company who works on both is opening a local branch.

O'Brien and Gere is an engineering firm that opened a new office in the Hurd building in downtown Utica. Four new positions have been created and filled, but they say there is room for more.

Company representatives say it was time to open in Utica because of many local projects they support.

"Currently we're working with Oneida County with sewer issues, City of Utica, working on the redevelopment of the harbor," Project Manager Karl Schrantz said of some of the local projects. "Utica with its sewer issues, Town of Whitestown, several industrial clients in the greater Mohawk Valley area."

Other local clients of the company's include the towns of Kirkland and Frankfort.
