Fans flock from across the the U.S. for Baseball HOF weekend

COOPERSTOWN, NY (WKTV) - A little pouring rain didn't stop baseball fans from checking out everything Hall of Fame weekend has to offer.

Hall of Fame Weekend is the bread and butter event for Cooperstown businesses. Last year, 20,000 people came to town. The Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce is expecting that same number this year, maybe more.

Myra Searless says despite the rainy weather, her hot dog stand is doing steady business.

"We wait for this weekend the whole year," Searless said.

A little drizzle isn't putting a damper on die-hard baseball fans. The Vergith family came all the way to Cooperstown from Lincoln, Nebraska. The family says they picked up some extra umbrellas and rain ponchos and will be hanging around until the induction ceremony on Sunday.

The induction ceremony will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown. Admission is free and open to the public.
