Couple killed in train accident; suicide note found nearby

VERONA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A husband and wife are dead after the couple stood on the path of a train on Fox Road and Hill Road in Verona, on Sunday.

According to New York State Police, Earl Myatt, and Mary Myatt, both 59, of Oneida stood on the tracks of an eastbound CSX freight train.

The Myatt's had recently been reported missing.

Authorities say the couple's son Bradford Myatt contacted police after his father told him, "that he was sorry for what he was about to do," before ending the call.

Mary Myatt was currently recovering from a brain aneurysm at the Oneida Healthcare Extended Care Facility.

A suicide note was found in the husband's car near the scene.

Authorities are still investigating this incident.
