ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Federal officials say they've freed up another $5.8 million to help New York communities pay for ongoing efforts to recover from back-to-back tropical storms Irene and Lee last year.
The U.S. Department of Labor says the National Emergency Grant money is part of $16.2 million originally authorized, $10 million of which has already been released to the state.
The latest round of money announced Thursday covers 20 counties: Albany, Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Delaware, Dutchess, Essex, Franklin, Greene, Montgomery, Nassau, Oneida, Orange, Otsego, Rockland, Schenectady, Schoharie, Tioga, Washington and Westchester.
