Felony hearing waived for man involved in Taberg standoff with authorities

By WKTV News

TABERG, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Taberg man who was arrested after an eight hour standoff on Friday inside his home waived his right to a felony hearing in the Town of Annsville Court on Wednesday, partly because of similarities to the high profile Christian Patterson case currently underway in Oneida County Court.

Daniel Bragg is charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

The Friday standoff started at Bragg's home on Pond Hill Road in Taberg, when Oneida County Sheriff's Deputies attempted to arrest him on two warrants related to a domestic dispute the night before.

After the lengthy standoff, authorities found Bragg inside the basement of his home and he was taken into custody peacefully.

Bragg's attorney, Doreen St. Thomas, says that the move to waive the felony hearing was made in light of two other high profile cases currently underway.

"You have to realize, with all the publicity going on with the Christian Patterson trial and also Mr. Trebilcock's trial going on now, I didn't believe it was in his best interest," she said. "I wanted to keep this as low profile as possible."

The next step for Bragg is to be arraigned in Oneida County Court.
