Final countdown is on for 2014 Boilermaker Road Race

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - We are now less than a week away from Boilermaker Sunday, and the final preparations are underway for the home stretch.
Race officials will be keeping a close eye on the weather forecast all week to determine what may need to be done if mother nature continues hit the area hard.
They also are focusing on what runners can do to make sure that they have the best boilermaker experience possible.
With the race just six days away, there are many tips that both new and veteran runners can focus on in order to be ready for the big day.
"Take it easy this week, your last hard run might be today, but then just taper down a little bit, go out for a few easy jogs, maybe even a walk, then stay as natural as possible," said Race Director, Jim Stasaitis. "Whatever you're used to doing for your normal training runs, stick with it."

One of the most important things that the Boilermaker Committee said for runners to do in preparation, is to make sure that they are constantly staying hydrated.
