Former Union Fork and Hoe site erupts in flames

FRANKFORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - Several fire agencies are working to battle an enormous structure fire at the former Union Fork and Hoe building in the Village of Frankfort.

Emergency response workers on the scene say that nobody has been injured and nobody was inside the vacant building at the time.

Officials also tell NEWSChannel 2 that there are no chemicals in the building. No evacuations are taking place at this time.

Union Fork and Hoe is between East Main Street and Industrial Drive in the Village of Frankfort.

The call came in just before 2:00 p.m. and smoke could be seen billowing from the factory from hilltops in the City of Utica.

At least a dozen fire departments were called to the scene, including tankers. Some as far away as Remsen and Willowvale were called in.

The fire appeared to be in a building in the rear of the complex, in "Building 8."
