Fire crews extinguish East Utica house fire
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Utica Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire at the intersection of Hubbell and Jay Streets early Thursday evening.
Smoke and flames were seen coming from the roof when the fire department was called in. As of 5:30 p.m., the fire appears to be out, according to a NEWSChannel 2 crew on the scene. According to Utica Fire Chief Russell Brooks, there were initial reports of a mother and child missing but the fire department found that everybody was out of the home unharmed. Chief Brooks says there is considerable fire and smoke damage on the second floor and smoke and water on the first floor The fire department has not yet discovered an origin of the blaze, but the investigation into a cause will continue. |
