Fire training heats up for Herkimer and Oneida Counties

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Fire fighters from Herkimer and Oneida Counties are going through some intense training over the next few days.
They're using Utica's Training Center on Leland Ave. to train in a live fire situation, in full gear.
Reps said that the two counties are working together to make this kind of training more accessible.
The training has been grueling so far, condensing three months of work into just two weeks.
"It's all day, 8 to 5 instruction,  and we're right at the end of it," said NYS Fire Inspector, Brendan Dunn. "We're doing two-a-days today and tomorrow, and Friday we're doing another state program."

This class also serves as an alternative to those who can't attend traditional classes during the school year.
