By WKTV News

NEW YORK MILLS N.Y. (WKTV) The fire hoses were all over Sauquoit Street in New York Mills on Sunday.

The Central New York Firemen's Association 'Firematic hose races' took place out in the middle of the street. The races are timed events where firefighters test their skills. Fire departments from 20 counties were invited. These races conclude the 118th annual CNYFA convention.

Larry Lanning, the Tournament Official Starter spoke about wanting to draw people in. "That is, your volunteer fire service is dropping down, we need younger people in here, maybe if they can get out and see that you can have fun, it might entice them a little bit."

The Owego Fire Department was the defending champion.
