Five Utica men arrested after police say they punched officers

(WKTV) - Five Utica men are charged after police say they punched officers in the face and resisted arrest.

Ar Kar, 17, of Plant Street, is charged with two counts of harassment and resisting arrest. Aung Oo, 17, of Seymour Avenue is charged with harassment and obstructing governmental administration. Somphith Soth, 19, of Howard Avenue, is charged with resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, harassment and unlawful possession of marijuana. Khee La, 19, of State Street, is charged with obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest and  Veasna Sou, 25, of Waverly Place, is charged with obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and harassment.

According to police, around midnight on Dec. 7 a man called the police and said that several Asian men had shattered the back window of his car and broke out the taillights. As officers were arriving, they spotted a group of Asian men walking a few blocks away. As an officer approached the group, one man allegedly punched the officer in the face and resisted arrest as police tried to take him into custody.

Another man in the group began to fight with the other officer at the scene. Several more officers responded as the men continued to fight with the officers. Two officers sustained injuries.
