Forestport man charged with murder of wife, police report recent domestic incidents
FLOYD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Court officials in the Town of Floyd confirm to NEWSChannel 2 that Larry Utter has been charged with murder in connection to the shooting death of his wife.
His wife, 45-year-old Stacey Utter, was found dead at the couple's home at 9220 Trestle Road in the Town of Forestport on Tuesday.
An autopsy revealed Stacey was shot two times.
Investigators said that Larry Utter called the Oneida County 911 center to report a shooting inside his residence. Police say he was claiming to have accidentally shot his wife.
When officers and EMS entered the residence, they found his wife dead. Mr. Utter was immediately taken into custody, but was sent to a hospital for a medical condition before being arraigned.
Investigators said that law enforcement has responded to the residence twice in the last year for domestic incidents, but no arrests were ever made.
Family members told police that there had been recent domestic tension between the two and that Stacey had been staying elsewhere in the days before the incident.
Utter is being held at the Oneida County Jail.
