Former C.O. pays $1,000 fine for official misconduct charge

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The former corrections officer who was found not-guilty of severely beating an inmate was sentenced on the one charge a jury was deadlocked on.

In Oneida County Court on Friday, Michael Wehby was sentenced to pay a $1,000 for a charge of official misconduct. He retired from the New York State Department of Corrections on Wednesday.

The hung jury meant Wehby could have gone through the entire trial process again for the misdemeanor assault charge they couldn't decide on. Instead, he pleaded guilty to that lesser charge.
