HERKIMER, N.Y.(WKTV) Some local golfers who just happen to be New York Giants football fans were in their glory on Saturday.

They had the chance to play a round with former Giants defensive end Gary Jeter at Holland Heigts Golf Course in Herkimer.

Jeter, who is now 57 years old, played 13 seasons in the NFL, most of them with the New York Giants.

He was invited to take part in the annual golf tournament to benefit the Mohawk Pop Warner Football League.

Jeter says he loves helping out anytime it it involves getting kids active, "what happens to a lot of these kids today, they're on the computer too often and they don't get out and get enough physical activity. I mean you look at tennis courts, you look at ball fields, you look at soccer fields and they're empty and they should be out there participating, and that's what we did."

The 90 dollar entry fee got you golf, lunch, a roast beef dinner after the game and an autograph from Jeter.
