Former McConnellsville fire chief sentenced for setting blaze

(WKTV) - Former McConnellsville fire chief Howard Roache will get jail time for setting a fire in 2013.

Roache will serve six months in the Oneida County Jail and received five years of probation. He will also pay $1,766 in restitution to the fire department and an amount yet to be determined for restitution for the property destroyed.

Roache was chief when he set a fire on Yager Road in the Town of Vienna in May. When the fire broke out, New York State Police say the owner of the property had a camera set up. Roache was caught on camera minutes before the fire was reported. He later admitted setting the blaze.
